Project Description
Dutra Dredging was under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District to perform maintenance dredging in portions of the Thimble Shoal Federal Navigation Channel & the Cape Henry Federal Navigation Channel, Chesapeake Bay, Virginia.
The work is being performed by Dutra’s hopper dredge Stuyvesant, with all dredged material transported & placed in the designated Government-furnished placement area at Dam Neck Ocean Disposal Site.
Work in Thimble Shoal consists of dredging approximately 1.25 million cubic yards of material to a required depth of 51 feet MLLW. Work in Cape Henry Channel consists of dredging 1.6 million cubic yards of material to a required depth of 51 feet MLLW. This $20 million project started in May of 2014
