Purpose: The Cabrillo Way Marina project consists of developing a marina with 700 wet slips and 400 mast-up storage dry stands including demolishing existing buildings and the existing marina, dredging and fill, construction of wet slips and dry stands, realigning Miner Street, constructing parking lots and signage, installing utilities including water lines, gas, sanitary sewer, and storm drain; constructing electrical, telephone, cable TV, site lighting, and street lighting, landscaping including irrigation and planting, concrete paving, stone paving, wood paving, trellis and benches, and gangway pavilions, construction of erosion control, and installing traffic control and traffic signal at 22nd Street and Miner Street in Long Beach, California. 

Construction Activities:

  • Installation of ten (each) 24-inch diameter precast, prestressed indicator concrete piles with and without stingers
  • Installation of 685 (each) 75-foot long 24-inch precast, prestressed concrete piles with & without stingers
  • Construction of the Marina Dock including providing and installing floating docks, waterside utilities, gangways, and dock appurtenances
  • Removal of 200 timber piles including disposal
  • Removal of 500 concrete piles including disposal
  • Installation of steel sheet piles and king piles
  • Installation of 1,250 linear foot deep soil mixing behind steel sheet pile wall systems
  • Cut-off to final elevations and disposal offsite of 50 (each) 24-inch diameter concrete production piles over six feet
  • Break-off and disposal of 20 (each) 24-inch concrete production piles
  • Installation of 200 cubic yards of trench subgrade stabilization material
  • Installation of 300 (each) six-foot long steel H-pile driving tips / stingers into concrete piles during concrete precast operation
  • Removal and disposal of 20,000 tons of concrete, rock, and miscellaneous debris on existing revetment slopes
  • Excavation of 10,000 cubic yards of soil for re-use on site or disposal at a local landfill
  • Excavation of 20,000 cubic yards of material above +5.6 feet MLLW for stockpile & fill onsite
  • Dredging of 70,000 cubic yards of material between +5.6 feet & -4.0 feet MLLW for placement as fill
  • Dredging of 152,000 cubic yards below -4.0 feet MLLW for placement at the Port of Los Angeles Anchorage Road upland soil storage site
