SRRQ Emergency Response ALERT - Weekend Work and Trucking Required

San Rafael Rock Quarry Responding to Cliff Slide in Pacifica

As you may have seen on the news over the past two days, a dramatic hillside collapse is taking place in the community of Pacifica. Most at risk is a 12 unit apartment complex that is in imminent danger of collapsing into the ocean. The San Rafael Rock Quarry has been called upon to produce and provide 4 – 8 ton rock along the affected shoreline to protect the eroding cliff before the situation worsens. This particular riprap is very large and only a few quarries are able to produce and handle rock of this size. The San Rafael Rock Quarry is able to quickly respond to this emergency because the rock is already produced and in inventory. For more information on the situation please read the news article here:  http://cbs5.com/local/pacifica.cliff.evacuations.2.1375963.html

The Coastal Commission has issued an Emergency Permit for the work required to stabilize the cliff. In order to do this, The Quarry will need to work through the weekend and possibly longer until the eroding cliff situation has been resolved. The weekend work will entail a small crew on-site to help with load out and trucking (roughly 75 trucks per day) on Saturday and Sunday during the hours of 7am-7pm. Our truck marshal will also be on duty to oversee the operation of our customer’s trucks on San Pedro Road.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Aimi Dutra
