As the Construction Division Manager, Jim is responsible for the overall planning and management of division projects, the annual division budget, and the direct day-to-day activities of division staff in line with corporate policies and procedures.
Jim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1993 from North Carolina State University and has over 20 years of experience working in the heavy civil infrastructure construction industry. He also is a California licensed Professional Civil Engineer.
Prior to joining Dutra in 2011 Jim worked in the San Francisco Bay Area on various heavy civil bridge infrastructure projects as part of the Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program. These projects included the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Seismic Retrofit, Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Seismic Retrofit, San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge West Approach Replacement, and the recent San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Replacement.
Throughout his career working from field engineer roles into project management Jim gained valuable experience in the construction of precast and cast in place concrete segmental bridges, cable stay installation, post tensioned box girder bridge construction, submarine bridge foundation retrofit and new construction, bridge structural steel erection, heavy rigging, placement of mass concrete, and self-consolidated concrete.
Jim has always been drawn toward marine construction projects due to the technical challenges and changing conditions that come with working in the marine environment.
